UNSW IDES2321 Assignment 2 “Plastics with Purpose”
Spring 2024
For this project I wanted to create a speaker that was true to the right to repair movement, but maintained a high-quality feel that didn’t make the speaker any less desirable than the best options you can already buy, embodying “plastics with purpose.” Most of the project for me was an exploration of form, and I decided on one that would be just as appropriate in a bedroom or living room as in the outdoors which is easy to achieve considering the speakers' small size. The angled grill gives the speaker a distinct silhouette and angles the sound slightly upward for better listening. The construction is compact and gives the speaker some weight, all well maintaining durability with every part being secured with screws. This offering from “Tilley Audio” promises to divert waste because of its ease of repair, while allowing for convenient listening in any location.
